Summary |
Documents the Midcentury Studio series of 45 black-and-white photographs based on a fictional premise: Assuming the role of an anonymous mid-20th century press photographer, Douglas used actors and authentic equipment to produce staged images that emulate the postwar period's obsession with drama, "caught-in-the-moment" crime-scenes, curious and exotic artifacts, magicians, fashion, dance, gambling, and technology. Also includes Malabar People, a suite of 16 portraits of the denizens of a fictional 1950s nightclub. |
