Summary If you live in a city with more than a hundred people in it, odds are you know all about graffiti. Infamy features interviews with six scene-leading graffiti artists: Claw, Earsnot, Enem, Jase, Saber, and Toomer, examining the culture of graffiti and the obsession that drives normal individuals to tag everything in sight. In cities from New York to Los Angeles, Philadelphia to San Francisco to Cleveland, the featured artists are articulate about their obsession with the idea of leaving their mark on the world around them, literally. And on the other side, there is Joe Connolly, a self-proclaimed "graffiti guerrilla," who obsessively patrols his neighborhood systematically wiping out all tagging in his neighborhood. He has single-handedly created a pocket within Los Angeles of graffiti-free city space where taggers refuse to go, achieving legendary status as a worthy adversary. These are the people behind the spray can, what motivates them to deface public property at the cost of criminal records, their livelihoods, and often their lives.
