Summary Twentieth century treatment of the Greek tragedy of Oedipus, who answers the Sphinx's riddle, becomes king and marries Jocasta, unaware that she is his mother. When the truth is revealed, Oedipus blinds himself, requests to be exiled, and Creon grants his wish and takes the throne.
