Summary Charles Lummis built El Alisal between 1896 and 1910, and lived there until his death in 1928. From 1889 to 1928, most visitors to El Alisal signed Lummis' personal housebook. The housebook has 500 pages and contains almost 7,000 signatures. This publication highlights some of the better known historical and literary figures.
